Bodegas Garmón, Prima' Toro
This is a gorgeous red that has become a customer favourite already! Jet-black in colour and loaded with fresh black fruit and a decent lick of oak, it is really well-balanced and more complex than many other wines from Toro.
A great alternative to Ribera del Duero and Rioja, with a fire in its belly to boot.
This the the first wine, or 'Prima', from Bodegas Garmón which is a collection of three wineries owned by the Garcia family, whose pedigree is particularly fine, having been former winemakers in Vega Sicilia, no less.
This is their project in Toro and interestingly doesn't just use the indigenous Tinta del Toro (Tempranillo to you and me), but also uses Garnacha.
This adds spiciness and an elasticity to the wine that is simply delicious. This is an intriguing wine in the first place, but is even better when you consider the value for money.
