Tuella, Douro Tinto 2020

€17.99

A gorgeous, award-winning red from the Douro valley and one of its oldest and most-respected family producers. This is full of black cherry, bramble and raspberry notes with juicy tannins and a lick of barrel-influenced spices.

This is a lovely, fruity and easy-to-drink red that is made in a seductive style with charm and elegance. What is amazing is that the grapes for this wine come from one of the most celebrated vineyards in the whole of the Douro. Famed for the production of Port grapes, the single estate Quinta do Vesuvio is one of the few names that sells itself regardless of the vintage that it appends. The quality is off the charts.

And that's what you get in this wine - cool, huh?!

All of the wines made in this estate undergo fermentation in the most traditional of manners - here that means treading by foot of all of the grapes in to great open-top lagares and aging in large wooden vats. Very much a piece of history, this is a lovely red that will accompany any meal or even Friday night TV.

Delicious and interesting range of wines delivered promptly to my door. Not far off that lovely feeling of coming back laden from a good wine store but without any of the traffic or the worry of breaking the wine en route (very impressive travel wrap).
