Critics' Choice: The Allotment in the press this weekend

More column inches for our little corner of the wine world this weekend.

Leslie Williams covered some of our Portuguese wines.

My Portuguese wine selections this week are all fruit-focused and lively, and do not break the bank - a couple of the wines this week are available from TheAllotment.ie, a great online shop that will have Black Friday deals later this month.

Thanks Leslie!

Then, in The Sun, Matthew Nugent bookended his column with a lovely write-up.

THE Allotment Wine Company works directly with small, focused winemakers and the best small Irish importers.

This allows this Irish-owned firm to offer its growing customer base excellent wines that regularly over deliver on quality.

Much of the Allotment’s carefully curated portfolio comes from family-owned vineyards which have an affinity to the land and vines they work with.

From the superbly quaffable Bodegas Albizu, Caminante Tempranillo, Vino de España from Rioja (€12.99) to the iconic Gaja Barbaresco, 2016 (€240) they have superb wines to suit every pocket, which can be delivered anywhere in the country.

Among the 195 wines they recommend to pair with the foods that we traditionally put on the table over the festive period are the exclusively imported whites and reds from the excellent Von Winning estates in Pfalz, Germany.

Their full list is well worth a look if you are looking for something a little different for the festivities ahead.

Thank you, Matthew!

Lastly, in The Irish Times, John Wilson mentions the Gayda Chardonnay

very moreish Chardonnay that balances subtle hazelnuts, peaches with refreshing lime zest. Enjoy with roast chicken, pork or cauliflower cheese.

We've carved out a small little corner of the wine world so it helps a lot, and feels great, when we get a mention, so thank you to John, Leslie, and Matthew this week
