Bucci, Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, Classico Superiore

€2699

One of the most delightful glasses of wine you can hold in your hand.

Ampelio Bucci has an estate in the south east of Italy that covers 350 hectares. That only 31 hectares are farmed for vineyards gives you a good indication that the care and attention is significant. Add to that the fact that these are organically farmed and the  high level of work and maintenance that is required rockets even further. 25 of the hectares are planted with Verdicchio, planted in five vineyard plots. Many of these vines are very old, resulting in pitifully low yields of seven to eight tonnes per hectare. This combination of vine age and tiny yields results in wines of great intensity and you're not to feel sorry for him - it is by intent and careful management that he is able to keep the yields so low - and this is the quality he chooses!

This Verdicchio Classico Superior is fermented in stainless steel tanks, bottled the July after harvest and has a gorgeous, fresh, complex palate with fine structure that really deserves decanting...! The glass of wine will reward you with delightful purity, lovely depth of yellow-fruit flavours and subtle spice, with a superb length and vibrant finish.
