Castaño, Organic Monastrell Rosé
Castaño, Organic Monastrell Rosé is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
This wine is made from one of the darkest, inkiest grape varieties in the world, yet is bright, fresh and lively, full of red apple, raspberries, plums and citrus notes, with a juicy, crisp and mouth-watering palate.
Made from organic grapes by one of the most-celebrated winemakers in the south east of Spain, Danny Castaño, this is the other, very pretty side of the Monastrell grape variety. The vineyards in the region of Yecla are almost perfect for organic farming, as they are protected from many of the excesses of heat on account of their altitude and they have less impact from heavy maritime weather fronts because of the same mountains. This makes very dry land with naturally low-levels of precipitation and rough, poor soils that force the vines to burrow down to reach nutrients in the soils.
It produces red grapes that are heavy with tannin, capable of rich and dark dry wines as well as jet-black, glossy sweet wines. What's so interesting here is how fresh and delicate this wine is - made from the very same grapes - showing the skill and understanding of the grape's potential that Danny and his team have amassed over the years.
