Château Trebiac, Graves, 2019
Château Trebiac, Graves, 2019 is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
A classic wine showing the quality and characteristics of the Graves terroir and climate, this is generous and full with notes of blackcurrant, dark fruit, green herbal flavours, pencil lead and iron minerality. It has structure to age but right now is simply delicious, accessible and really remarkably rewarding.
The winery, which was once in the stewardship of Augustinian nuns, is now owned by the Sichel group of wineries and is managed by Parisian ex-financier Arnaud de Butler. His father was a winemaker in nearby Château Crabitey. The winery is in graves, which is the region that runs right into the heart of the city of Bordeaux, but its location is about 35 kilometres away, in slightly warmer climes away from the sea. Arnaud has had the property since 1999 and has renovated practices and facilities, vineyards and the winery building in the intervening 25 years.
The 2019 is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and the winery themselves recommend drinking from 2022 onwards...!
This is really, really impressive!
