French Wines

French wine is arguably the benchmark by which wines from everywhere else are judged. The diversity in the French climate and landscape makes wines of every conceivable style. You can't talk about French wines without the revered Bordeaux region, of course, setting the gold standard for Cabernet Sauvignon. Then there's the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of Burgundy, which also go into some Champagne, further to the northeast. And we haven't even mentioned wines from the Loire or Rhône valleys, or indeed the South of France, a huge region infused with Mediterranean and Atlantic grapes and wine styles.
