This is the Primitivo version from one of our most popular producers in Puglia.
A gorgeously smooth and dark Primitivo that is full of soft, black-berried fruits, subtle spice and a mouth-coating finish. Very, very nice indeed.
The vineyards for this wine are mostly situated in Manduria and Sava areas, and are owned, not by the wine producer, but by grape growers with whom Filippo, the winemaker, has been working for a long time.
They aim for quality over quantity here, with production a bit lower than the maximum yield they could get. This means that only the best quality grapes are selected.
80% of the grapes come from old gnarly bush vines with the remaining 20% from vines grown on spur and cordon-trained systems; all of the vines are a minimum of 20 years in age.
