Domaine Tariquet, Rosé, Côtes de Gascogne

€1499

Lovely rosé that continues our tour of French rosés all about the countryside; this one coming from just to the north of Bordeaux. Made from Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Tannat (all local grapes) they round it out with 25% Syrah. The result is a charming wine with red fruits, floral notes and subtle spice on the nose with a citrus-fresh yet softly rounded palate.

This is from the wonderful Tariquet stable, who are no strangers to us. They make spectacular Armagnacs (I'm talking seriously wonderful), that we aren't allowed to sell, and they also have a very lovely range of wines. Sure, if you're going to make good Armagnac, you have to make good wines in the first place.

This wine is pressed and the free-run juice is then fermented in the same way as the whites, allowing for clarity of structure and flavour definition. It's lovely stuff and is very handy for matching salads, seafood, grills and even spicy food as well.
