Thistledown Gorgeous Old Vine Shiraz 2022

Thistledown definitely don't do average, and this is not your average Shiraz. 

On the nose there's this lovely peachey, nectarine, wild raspberry and a bit of spice going on.

The palate is soft and smooth, the texture silky and any tannins just add a hint of seasoning – think strawberries and black pepper.

The way Thistledown describe it, is that they are "turning a previously undervalued resource into something that is hugely enjoyable and ultimately gorgeous".

And it is, ultimately, and absolutely gorgeous.

The grapes were picked from a single old vineyard in the Riverland, a property that had been growing grapes since the early soldier settlements.

A small proportion of Zibibbo, better known as Muscat, was co-fermented using wild yeasts, echoing the Rhône blending of Syrah and Viognier, perhaps. 

And it works. It really works.

Finally, this utterly gorgeous Shiraz spend a short amount of time in old French oak barrels followed by bottling young to preserve the hugely aromatic, textural deliciousness that these Masters of Wine makers sought from the start.

We charge €7.99 per delivery for quantities less than that.

We pack your online wine order along the following timelines:

Wine orders for delivery in Dublin, received before 12pm on weekdays are prepared so that delivery should be expected the next working day.

Wine orders for nationwide delivery, received by 12pm on weekdays are prepared so that delivery should be expected two working days later.
