The Caiquén is a wild goose from Patagonia in southern Argentina that flies across The Andes to Chile and back. Just like the Caiquén, Aurelio Montes, founder of the Chilean winery Bodega Montes, came across the Andes.
This was no wild goose chase. On the contrary, in the year 2000, he set up in Mendoza and with vines in the Uco Valley and specific plots in Lujan de Cuyo, the Kaiken winery has access to the areas that have consistently produced the best fruit for decades.
