Dog Point Vineyard, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

This is a beautiful Sauvignon Blanc and though it is more expensive than other options, you'll thank yourself (and us) for the very valuable steer. Full of complex flavours and layers of aromatic fruit, there is a texture and balance that you normally only find in top Loire Valley Sauvignon Blancs. Green apple, herb, blackcurrant leaf, grapefruit and lime notes with a lip-smacking finish.

The origin of fabled Marlborough success stories Cloudy Bay and Greywacke, the Dog Point farm belongs to two families (Healy and Sutherland) who have hand-picked these vines for over forty years.

Consistently one of the favourites in the wine trade because it is from these vines that the best New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs (and Pinot Noirs as it happens!) were always produced. But added to quality is the story of resilience: this is a property that has survived a massive take-over of the brand they once fed, the ups and downs of market forces and has met them all with continued optimism from the families who carry on their work irrespective of fashions and trends.

This is a wine made from really top-grade Sauvignon Blanc that has stood the test of time. It's not a new invented brand that sits on special offer to boost supermarket sales... It is worthy wine that is made in the same way as the finest of the Loire's appellations; it is a shiny, aromatic, textural, flavoursome and moreish wine that has more food-matching ability than any other New World Sauvignon that we've ever known, other than the three other wines made from the same vineyard's grapes!

Delicious and interesting range of wines delivered promptly to my door. Not far off that lovely feeling of coming back laden from a good wine store but without any of the traffic or the worry of breaking the wine en route (very impressive travel wrap).
