For those who want some of the joy brought by excellent sparkling wine without paying some of the French prices associated with it, this Cava from Castillo Perelada is a very, very fine glass of cheer.
In fact, Cava is wonderful anyway, but we happen to really like this one. Based in an actual Castle in the Penedes region outside Barcelona, Castillo Perelada is one of the best addresses that a Cava can have.
The wine itself is complex, fresh and mouth watering with notes of apple, quince and cashew nuts.
Very good on its own (perhaps this is not a surprise), but excellent too with seafood and warm salads.
And a nice new bottle, too.
