Château Pailhas, Saint Emilion

€24.99

Château Pailhas is one of those rare wines, a Saint Emilion that shows classic flavours, structure and finesse while remaining approachable in style, quality and price. Recognisably established as a world-class appellation, this Saint Emilion shows the results of 200 years of family management, now in the fourth generation, with a beautifully smooth mouth-feel and texture allowing flavours of forest fruits, mixed spices, tobacco and leather to develop on the long finish.

Unusually for Saint Emilion, this wine is made from all of the classic Bordeaux varieties of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This decision shows the courage of the Robin-Lafugie family in growing all varieties, opting not for ease of mass-production, but adhering to the family motto of "quality over quantity" and in this regard making a highly respectful, traditional wine that gives the essence of this wonderful region in every glass.

Delicious and interesting range of wines delivered promptly to my door. Not far off that lovely feeling of coming back laden from a good wine store but without any of the traffic or the worry of breaking the wine en route (very impressive travel wrap).
