Segredos de São Miguel, Tinto
Segredos de São Miguel, Tinto is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Cracking value from the region that ceases to give: Alentejo. This is another wine that is the brain-child of legendary winemaker Luis Duarte, who is involved in Herdade dos Grous and Monte da Peceguina.
It is full of dark fruits, lively spicey smoothness and a medium bodied, dry finish. Blackberry, licorice and plum flavours are balanced by fresh acidity and smooth tannins. A gorgeous glass for any night of the week.
The Relvas family began their now highly successful and extensive wine group at this estate, the Herdade do São Miguel. They make gorgeous wines with the reds catching the eye of many a keen bargain hunter on account of the fruit density, oak quality and overall precision of the wines that they offer. They are really very good and use nothing out of the ordinary, this Segredos being made from the proprietary blend of Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Alicante Bouschet. The telling quality comes in the execution - never overly ambitious and yet mean! This could fetch a higher price I know it, but they cut their cloth and so on... This Segredos is their pre-entry level if you like: specifically designed to offer you (and me) a 'key' into the style and quality of the Alentejo.
For many years now, this has been one of the go-to recommendations we have worked with for customers looking to understand what all the fuss about Portugal really is, and how to access that experience at less than the price of a meal for two.
If that's you, then this is the wine for you!
