Finca Carelio, Tempranillo Barrica
Finca Carelio, Tempranillo Barrica is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
As the name suggests, this is a wine made of barrel-aged Tempranillo! And though it is that familiar of recipes, this is a wine that totally over-delivers in its value for money and sheer drinkability. Smooth, medium-full bodied and full of dark berry and overripe strawberry flavours, it wears the oak influence effortlessly, presenting a wine, which if it had come from a more famous region, would easily cost a tenner more.
A great alternative to Rioja or Ribera del Duero (it's just outside the second of those regions), this is the result of winemaking teams looking for high-quality grapes within a budget. They are blessed here in the Fuente di Pedro zone of the greater Castille-e-La Marche district in north and west Spain.
Ripeness and depth, chocolatey notes with lots of dense black and red fruit; it's a winner all-round and will suit dinners, snacks and parties alike.
A last note; the label is taken form a very large etching and changes each year where a different part of the etching is used and coloured highlights put in. It's pretty cool as far as we think!
