Vigneti del Salento, I Muri, Negroamaro
Vigneti del Salento, I Muri, Negroamaro is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Brilliant Puglian red that over-delivers with an abundance of dark fruit and subtle spice. Excellent with or without food, it has come to represent the 'modern' Italian style of silky, black, fruit-heavy red wines.
Vigneti del Salento comes out of the Farnese stable, this being their hugely popular, best-selling Puglian project.
They make their wines in two wineries in Taranto, in western Salento. The winemaker is Danilo Gizzi, who along with Filippo Baccalaro make sumptuous fruit-forward wines.
Filippo hails from Piemonte, but has been making wine in Puglia for over twenty years. His philosophy is to let the fruit shine with minimal technical intervention. And, well, it shows.
Ruby red in colour, with purple hues. This Negroamaro is really intense with notes of blackberries and blackcurrants. It is medium bodied and quite velvety, with lovely balance and savoury spice notes on the finish.
