Izadi, Rioja Reserva 375ml Half Bottle
Izadi, Rioja Reserva 375ml Half Bottle is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
This Reserva Rioja is one of our all-time favourites, BUT we have so many full-bottle competitors it's hard to have everyone present...
This is why we are proud to use the HALF BOTTLE!
This is classic, modern Rioja - full-bodied but not too overpowering, with concentrated strawberry and vanilla notes on the nose, leading to a lush, medium-concentrated palate that has vibrancy and generosity in spades.
Izadi owns 178 hectares of its own vines and works closely with selected growers for another 108 hectares of old vines with an average age of 45 years. All located within the triangle formed by the three villages of Villabuena, Samaniego and Ábalos. The vineyards are planted as bush vines, a method which Izadi believes gives better exposure of the grapes, which, in turn leads to better ripeness and softer, fuller wines. Well, it's certainly part of their identity and charm. Planted at between 450-550 metres above sea level, the diurnal changes are perfect for the nurturing of aromatic qualities in the grapes, the colour in the skins and the retention of fresh acidity.
It's a slightly different, but very welcome view of how Rioja can be made. And we are truly grateful for their opinion!
Soft, smooth and complex with ripe red berry, blackberry and subtle, integrated spices, all wrapped up in silky tannins and a long balanced finish.
