Champagne Louis Roederer, Brut Premier 375ml Half Bottle

€4499

This is the last available bottling of the 'house wine' from Louis Roederer and is a stunning multi-vintage Brut.

In a half bottle. Perfect for two glasses... and maybe one more.

One of the most "wine-y" of all Champagnes it really is a gastronomic delight; excellent with shellfish and Asian cuisine, it is so well-balanced that serving with simple charcuterie shows off the power and structure of the wine with its delicious flavours of crisp apple, cashew and brioche.

During the First World War much of the Roederer's many vineyards were ruined. In the decades that followed, the house restored and replanted these vineyards, but as they were able to use far less of their own grapes, a decision was made to buy in grapes from other vineyards and create a multi-vintage blend: the first time Roederer had done so.

This became their wonderful Brut Premier, which is now their most popular and best-selling wine. Today the grapes for this wine are selected from their own Cru vineyards and typically form a ratio of 40% of both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with 20% Pinot Meunier.

It's a wonderful wine that has a brilliant balance between freshness and maturity that the house attributes to their understanding of their soils and the quality that these sites possess.
