Cloudy Bay, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2024

€3999

This is a the defining Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

It has justified its position as one of the most expensive in the region because it is full of complex flavours and layers of aromatic fruit; the palate has a texture and balance that you normally only find in top Loire Valley Sauvignon Blancs. Green apple, herb, blackcurrant leaf, grapefruit and lime notes with a lip-smacking finish.

The origin of many of the fabled Marlborough success stories, Cloudy Bay was established by Kevin Judd, who now runs his own winery, in neighbouring vineyards, called Greywacke.

Consistently one of the favourites in the wine trade because it is from these vines that the best New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs (and Pinot Noirs as it happens!) were always produced. But added to quality is the story of defining a wine style for the world: no other winery or brand has done quite so much from a standing start, to radically influence the world of wine for over a hundred years.

This is a wine made from really top-grade Sauvignon Blanc that has stood the test of time. It's not a new invented brand that sits on special offer to boost supermarket sales... It is worthy wine that is made in the same way as the finest of the Loire's appellations; it is a shiny, aromatic, textural, flavoursome and moreish wine that has more food-matching ability than any other New World Sauvignon that we've ever known, other than the three other wines made from the same vineyard's grapes!
