Maui, Canterbury Sauvignon Blanc
Maui, Canterbury Sauvignon Blanc is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Grown in the north Canterbury zone of Waipara, this is a brilliant Sauvignon that is fully of the typical gooseberry, grassy citrus flavours that you'd expect from the variety in this country, but with more layers of complexity and texture that this region brings to the table.
The Tiki estate that make this wine are based in Marlborough, and this wine was one of their staple products for years, coming out of that winery ad its vines. Then the demand for Sauvignon Blanc and more difficult growing conditions forced them to consider their entire model and has landed them with these choice vineyards in the Waipara valley (Waipara translates and Maddy Water or something similar, which we like because winemaking is a bit like that...!).
This has done wonders for their business, for the wine itself (giving it a whole new identity and personality) and for the Waipara and Canterbury regions. It's a very good news story and the wine is a really gorgeous and refreshing take on the New Zealand classic.
