One of the most significant wines to come from Lebanon and one of the most-loved to boot, this is wine from a region that has a very long history of wine production from the wedding of Canaa in Galilee to the Irish forces helping ferry the grapes from vineyard to winery over the front-line during Lebanon's 15-year Civil War.
This is a land that has incredible natural richness; Musar itself is blessed with iron-rich red soils that support vines with vivid green growth and grapes that ripen perfectly with the benefits of a large diurnal temperature range.
First produced in 2007, the Musar Jeune range are unoaked, vibrantly fruity wines, made from the fruit of youthful Bekaa Valley vines, and were introduced to meet the demand for a ‘current drinking’ Musar range. The Musar Jeune Red is characterised by its deep inky-dark colour, silky texture and flavours of blackcurrant, raspberry and cherry jam along with a warm, spicy finish. No wonder, it has been likened to a fine Roussillon red!
The 2021 vintage is a blend of Cinsault (50%), Syrah (35%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%), selected from vineyards with varying ages of vines and soils. Of all the grapes, the Syrah was particularly outstanding for its intensity and strength with unforgettable aromas of violet and mango.
The range of Musar Jeune wines which includes white and rosé, is produced from younger Bekaa Valley vines from organically certified vineyards at 1,000 metres above sea level - unfettered by oak, and displaying classic Musar characteristics, these wines are best enjoyed in their youth.
Deep purple beetroot colour with a nose and palate of more red fruits than black; think strawberries and cherries. Unoaked, with a savoury, earthy depth and a touch of spice and black pepper that define the 2021 vintage. A truly elegant wine with layers of taste and lots of potential to age and develop.
