This is a delicious and delightful white that comes from the very fashionable Vermentino vineyards in the south of France. With flavours of peach, lime and blossom, it's no wonder that these wines are becoming the must-have for so many restaurant wine lists. Fresh, fruity, vibrant with a nervy edge, you get so much more than you expect from South of France whites and so much more than you pay for!

If you think that Vermentino sounds very Italian, you'd be right. BUT this stunner from the South of France is actually one of many bottlings of this grape (mostly called Rolle in France) that has created a wave of interest in other country's production of it. The familiar stone-fruit and apple, citrus-oriented flavours seem to be enhanced by fresher and livelier influences than all but the very best Italian examples. This one is no exception - full of flavour and vitality, it is a mouthwatering charmer from the village of Capestang near Béziers in the heart of the Languedoc. 

This wine comes from a beautiful estate - if it were in Bordeaux, it would be world-renowned and its wines would command serious prices! Established in the 1400s, there are records of vines dating from the 1700s and as the Château was developed in the following centuries, under the watch of Napoleon among others, and then, after the Second World War, the whole thing was restarted when bought by the Robert-Boularand family.

Now in the hands of the fourth generation, they farm in lots of the best Languedoc locations, including Saint-Chinian. This wine is just like they are: a thumbprint of the region - truly representative of the soil, grapes and climate that you'd expect from the South of France.
