A warm, hug-like red that will open your eyes to a better and more refined vision of this wonderful region.

Made from select plots of Tempranillo vines and parcels of old Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, this is a simply delicious red that Javier sees as an alternative view to Ribera, offering a slender body, juiciness and a fruit core of blackberry, currants, strawberry and plum, laced with vanilla and nutmeg spices.

This is a beautiful and seriously considered single-estate red from one of the most-loved regions in Spain. Coming from high altitude vines and made by one of the most gentle and kind people in the wine trade, this is a wine to savour and share, but because of the price, it's not too hard to treat yourself either.

Javier Bohórquez is a frequent visitor to Ireland, loving to fish and meet old friends. His winery in the Peñafiel district of the Ribera del Duero gives the best and most elegant of the region's wines as well as some of the most famous. He is a quiet, tall and charming man who is generous and patient, talented and visionary. Eschewing the powerful blockbuster styles of many of his neighbours, he has successfully attempted to show that the potential for elegant, age-worthy wines from the Ribera del Duero is real and achievable if you, like, him have the ability for perseverance and the capacity for patience. His wines are remarkably approachable, soft, complex and rewarding. It's just happy coincidence that he himself is such a great chap! A native of Jerez, he has found his way in the wine regions of Spain by his careful and meticulous approach, respect and patience.

Delicious and interesting range of wines delivered promptly to my door. Not far off that lovely feeling of coming back laden from a good wine store but without any of the traffic or the worry of breaking the wine en route (very impressive travel wrap).
