Château Tire Pé - DieM
One of the new wines to arrive in the last week is one of those rare finds I love discovering - - those that punch well above their price-point.
Gold for the price of silver.
The 'DieM' from Château Tire Pé based in Entre-deux-Mers area of Bordeaux is a fabulous, delicious red made from 100% organic Merlot grapes.
Juicy redcurrant, ripe plums, bramble fruit and notes of sweet herbs burst out of this wine delivering immediate joy and sunshine, as well as a seriously stylish Bordeaux, in every glass.
Hand-harvested and farmed with immense care and attention to detail, these grapes are grown in vineyards that are some of the highest in the region, sharing land with plots of Malbec and Cabernet Franc.
Hélène and David Barrault purchased Château Tire Pé in 1997 and have been farming organically since 2008, achieving certification in 2014.
Their 13.5 hectares of vines is poly-cultivated with wild grasses, insects, birds, bees and small fury chaps living side by side amongst the grapes, which is not very common in Bordeaux.
The slopes face south and the soils are typical clayey-limestone giving grapes of ripeness and aromatic interest, complexity and (if you farm like these guys) elegance and refinement.
It's a wine that seriously over-delivers at the price point.
As I said, gold for the price of silver.
