Nebbiolo is an Italian red wine grape varietal, best known for the wines of the Piedmont region, where it makes wine  of Barolo and Barbaresco. Possibly  derive its name from the Italian for fog.  In late autumn, a thick fog often envelopes the vineyards of the Langhe region. Another story is that the word derives from the Italian word nobile, or noble, which the wines indeed become, particularly given the opportunity to age for a 5-10 years
