Wines of Pieropan, Soave

Pieropan has 58 hectares of vineyards on the stony hills of Soave Classico where they've been making wine the 1890s. In the thirties, they were the first producer to bottle a wine labelled "Soave". A little later, in the early 1970s, they were the very first to make a single-vineyard Soave, their "Calvarino". The name derives from ‘Little Calvary’ referring to the challenges of working in the steep hills and the perilously dangerous path leading down.

In the early 2000s, the family expanded their interests and bought land in the Valpolicella zone to the north of Soave in the twon of Tregnano, including the historic vines on Monte Garzon and the beautiful Villa Cipolla (the "onion House" in English). Their aim was to make "their" style of Valpolicella, retaining their reputation for freshness, elegance, purity of fruit and intensity.

The Villa has a pre-existing cellar which they use for ageing their monumental Amarone, Vigna Garzon.

I must say the wine list here is amazing. Top quality and what I like the most is a rich info on every presented bottle. Pure example when someone puts their heart and knowledge into it. I had a few Burgundy ones and they were delicious! Superb packaging and delivery as well.
