Cantina Rallo, Ciello Bianco, Cataratto

€1450

This crisp, dry and mouth-watering white is as close as many of us will get to regularly consuming Orange wine! It's not orange, and nor is it a skin-contact wine, but it is un-fined and unfiltered, which means that some bottles can have a sort of apple-juice cloudiness to them. But fear not! This is delightfully clean and textured wine that will show you how this style can be executed with charm and quality.

Made from Cataratto, one of Sicily's indigenous white grape varieties, this is delicious and fresh with flavours of pink grapefruit, lemon and green apple.

Cantine Rallo was established in 1860 and was immediately recognised as a producer of high quality wines. Don Diego Rallo initially made Marsala, as it was the most commercially lucrative enterprise, but in the 1990s stylistic preferences for wine had changed unrecognisably from the 1806s and the Vesco family, who bought the estate, began modernising the production and outlook of the company ready for the 21st Century.

Organic viticulture and a commitment to estate-made produce, the wines have become a benchmark for a new, living and breathing Sicily that puts them at the top table of all of Italy's regional Cantinas.
