Châteaux Macalan, Bordeaux Supérieur 2022
Châteaux Macalan, Bordeaux Supérieur 2022 is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Made by the brother of a friend of mine, Jean-Jacques Hias, in the Premier Côtes de Bordeaux subzone to the south of Saint-Emilion.
This wine is really lovely and has been growing in reputation in recent years, with seriously over-performing vintages leading Jean-Jacques to reluctantly increase his prices by... 50 cent per bottle!
The wine has impressive weight and richness, with a lovely dense texture that opens with sweet dark fruits and spice, that soften into flavours of juicy blackberry coulis. The blend has a good 25% of Cabernet Franc, which gives the wine a perfumed, smoky edge that really is unlike many others from this appellation.
This 2022 vintage was one of the great Bordeaux vintages in recent years and is showing remarkably well right no. If you like to get potent, broad and dark Claret with impressive structure and the ability to develop, then this is for you!
