Famille Perrin, Luberon, Rosé
Famille Perrin, Luberon, Rosé is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Delicious, easy drinking rosé from one of the most celebrated producers in the Rhône Valley (these guys make Château Beaucastel...!), this wine is perfect for aperitifs and simple, easygoing summery cookery. You can scale it up, of course, with really fine dining, but this is essentially about a lighter side of the Rosé season.
Made from a fabulous blend of Grenache blanc, Grenache noir, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Vermentino, this is a beautiful wine with a classic, southern French Rosé colouring and an aromatic nose of red berry, citrus and white-stone fruits that lead to a lively fresh and generous palate that has juicy berry flavours and a gorgeously lively citrus twang that makes your mouth water and (I'm convinced) makes the weather instantly sunny...
For their Luberon Rosé, the Perrin family source fruit from vineyards in the Parc Régional de Luberon, situated about 150km east of Châteauneuf du Pape the south-east of the Rhône Valley. It's that glorious part of France where you could be in Provence or the Rhône and it doesn't seem to matter. The scenery in stunning and also usefully varied offering the vines here a good deal of freshness from 300 metres above the sea, while large heat-retaining limestone rocks beneath thte vines store heat during the day and release it overnight to prevent any frost from forming and damaging the vines. These factors help the grapes to ripen slowly and give the resultant wines a fresh and engaging acidity. This wine is then made in traditional methods with a very short maceration of the red varieties and a temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The are stored in the same tanks before a very light fining and bottling. All simple, all about the freshness and flavours.
