Saint Emilion Grand Cru made by one of the greatest wineries in Pomerol?
Where do I sign?
This is a delicious, smooth and elegantly handled Saint Emilion that I have had immense satisfaction from selling over the past decade. Each vintage continues the execution of a complete wine experience that other Château either cannot achieve, or for which they charge a small fortune.
Thus is a generous, juicy, smooth and svelte wine that has supple tannins and oh-so pretty fruit - red currant, raspberry, blueberry, black berry and delicious integrated spices. A long finish and excellent acidity make this a superb match for all your favourite roasts, grills and Netflix binges.
94-95 Points, James Suckling
"A gorgeous red with so much black fruit and salty, mineral character. It’s medium-to full-bodied with creamy, polished tannins and a long finish. The precision and fine texture is impressive. One of the best I have had for a while."
93 Points, Jane Anson
"...salinity, energy and clear purity of blueberry and raspberry fruit. Lovely, a lyrical take on St Emilion limestone from the Durantou family..."
Antonio Galloni
"The 2021 Saintayme is a very pretty, supple wine to drink now and over the next decade. It offers lovely freshness and verve to match its mid-weight personality. Crushed flowers, mint, dried herbs and red berry fruit are some of the notes that grace this vibrant, mid-weight Saint-Émilion. Drink 2025-2038."
Bought in the 1980s highly-celebrated, late and great Denis Durantou from Château l'Eglise Clinet in Pomerol, this is a wine that is the result of a massive amount of research for the best possible sites in Bordeaux.
We've known and worked with the Durantou estates for 12 of their 20 vintages and love selling the wines as faux-Pomerol or ersatz-Saint Emilion Grand Cru, over-delivering at excellent prices.
