This is a lush, structured and powerful Pomerol made by the historic and hugely successful Pradel de Lavaux family.
Coming from old vines planted in one walled vineyard, or 'clos', this is a very special wine that is made in very limited quantities. The name Certan does some up a fair bit in Pomerol, and this was indeed a part of the old estate of the Certan family, just another part that was inherited by other means to the other properties of similar names over the years. This wine is indeed challenged by the similarity of its name to one of the finest wines on the planet, but my friend who is one of the family who own the property, is more nonchalant about such matters, saying "these things come and go; VCC or VPC, I don't know, but we do know that we make very, very good wine."
Planted with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, this is a classic Pomerol and expresses dark, deep and powerful flavours of black fruits, ripe bramble fruit, integrated spices and developing tobacco and mocha spice. It's a wonderful and iconic wine that will create a really wonderful experience.
